May 21, 2001, Fairfax, Virginia -- Nextira Federal LLC is a vibrant new company created from the consolidation of TimePlex Federal Systems and the federal services division of Nextira LLC, formerly known as Williams Communications Solutions, LLC (WCS), two established providers of communications solutions to the federal marketplace. The new entity provides converged voice and data solutions to the civilian and defense agencies of the federal government and offers the benefits of more than 30 years of experience in mission-critical communications networking within the government sector.

Platinum Equity, which recently acquired Nextira, is a multi-billion dollar organization specializing in the acquisition and operation of global, mission-critical technology companies. (See Platinum Equity releases: April 3, 2001 "Platinum Equity Announces the Acquisition of Williams Communications Solutions" and April 3, 2001 "Platinum Equity Introduces Nextira As New Name of Communications Network Solutions Operator.") Nextira is a $1.3+ billion organization with over 5500 employees created from the integration of three networking solutions companies: Milgo Solutions, TimePlex Federal Systems and WCS. The integration was initiated by Platinum Equity to create a clear market leader in voice, data, and converged solutions. Nextira Federal, the new federal arm and wholly owned subsidiary of Nextira, was created to focus on communications networking solutions for the federal government market.

Steve Snyder, president of Nextira Federal, highlighted the new company's main objective: "Our mission is straightforward--to use the proven experience and strong government heritage of TimePlex Federal and Nextira's federal services division, to become the clear market leader in converged voice and data solutions. Nextira Federal has a forceful new team and significant financial and business resources to make it the government's best choice for converged voice and data communications network solutions."

Nextira Federal offers civilian and defense agencies of the federal government vendor-independent products and a full range of services, from planning and design through the implementation, support, and management of voice, data, and converged network solutions. It provides a nation-wide service organization that carries an extensive portfolio of certifications and product expertise, and offers its customers best-in-class technologies from leading partners, such as Nortel Networks, Cisco Systems, NEC, and 3COM, among others. GSA Schedules are also in place. Additionally, classified personnel, operations and management facilities, including multi-million dollar operations and control centers for remote networking monitoring and problem resolution, are among the added resources that the new company offers its government customers.

Jim Kane, president of Federal Sources, stated, "The union of TimePlex Federal Systems with the federal division of Nextira brings to the federal government a new level of converged voice and data communications networking solutions. Nextira Federal has all the pieces in place to make an immediate impact on the federal communications market, including existing federal accounts, strong partnership programs with industry product leaders, and an extensive maintenance and support footprint throughout North America, Central America and South America."

Nextira Federal is headquartered in Fairfax, Virginia, the current home of TimePlex Federal Systems.
