Larry Underwood to Lead NextiraOne Professional and Managed Services Practice

HOUSTON - May 31, 2005 - In a move to sharpen its focus and attention on its growing professional and managed services business, NextiraOne has appointed Larry Underwood to lead the professional services practice. In his new role, Larry will ensure that NextiraOne continues to provide its clients with expert guidance and support for planning and managing their IP, converged and traditional enterprise communication networks.

"With our increased focus on professional and managed services, we needed a leader who has an understanding of the business and technology challenges our clients face at the highest level," said NextiraOne CEO Dale Booth. "As our former vice president and general manager of national market accounts, Larry has gained significant experience and insight in helping our clients successfully navigate the technology minefield to address the business challenges facing them today."

In Underwood's former role he was afforded a unique view into the requirements enterprise clients face in addressing and scaling their IT and telecom assets to support convergence. This exposure and experience makes him a perfect fit to build and manage NextiraOne's managed and professional services practice. In his new role, Larry will be responsible for developing, packaging and ensuring delivery of NextiraOne's broad services portfolio. He will be managing a team of professionals tasked with delivering the highest level of service to meet the evolving needs of NextiraOne's clients.

"Enterprises today are faced with growing the top line, and improving customer service by leveraging advanced communication technologies to solve old problems in new ways. Our professional and managed services offerings are designed to help clients plan, manage and secure their environments as the use and proliferation of converged technologies grows exponentially," added Booth.

Prior to this appointment, Larry was the vice president and general manager of the National Markets business unit where he had responsibility for sales and service delivery for national and global accounts as well as the systems integrator and telecom carrier channel partners. Before joining NextiraOne, Larry served as vice president of sales and business development for LongBoard. He has also held numerous senior management positions with Tachion Networks, Lucent/Ascend, 3Com and MCI. Larry began his career in telecom as a switching systems technician for the U.S. Army Signal Corps in 1981.
